I know I will live to regret the pun in the subject line, but still, I don't
erase it. 



<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">Like a dutiful parent I don’t like to go
on
about one show being (as my word-smith Virgo friends would say) more specialler
– but some shows are just more fun to do.<span> 
</span>Episode 39 is one of those.<span>  </span>I had
a chance to see Lucas and the Cliks chicks at Canadian Music Week for the first
time and Lucas and chatted after the set.<span> 
</span>Being myspace pals for months it was a long awaited meeting for Lucas
and I.<span>  </span>He had been stoked for some time
about playing some Cliks tunes over the IndieCan airwaves. Lucas said “let’s do
it, Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah!” and here we are.<span>  </span>You won’t want to

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">Lucas, Morgan, Nina and Jen of THE CLIKS
are in the IndieCan house and giving the world a sneak peak from their April
24^th
release of their full length CD, “Snakehouse.”<span>

will be announcing some of the upcoming concert dates.<span>  </span>Western
Canada - you get the first crack at
the “Clik” tracks as April 10^th to 16^th will be the
Winnipeg to Vancouver leg of the tour.<span>

there will be a little Debbie Harry and The Dresden Dolls</span> action with

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">Also on this weeks show, another sneak
peak:<span>  </span>We’ll hear a track from Lye’s
April 10^th DVD release from the concert shot at The Opera
House.<span>  </span>The Ride Theory gives us our
Hamilton connection, Hurricane Cletus checks in from Saskatchewan, from
Halifax, we have next weeks “live at IndieCan” guests, Down With The Butterfly
and for those of you like to play “connect the dots” you can figure out how
Galore was a natural fit of this show.<span> 
</span>We spin another great tune from The U.K.’s The Buck Brothers who after
Canadian Music Week, found time to entertain us with about six shows in
</span><st1:state><st1:place><span
lang="EN-CA">Ontario</span></st1:place></st1:state><span lang="EN-CA"> and
</span><st1:state><st1:place><span
lang="EN-CA">Quebec</span></st1:place></st1:state><span lang="EN-CA"> before
heading back to Greenwich time.   <span></span><o:p></o:p></span></p>



<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">Our industry insider was at the CMW
Indies
to receive an Indie Award on March 7^th.<span>  </span>While the rest
of us attended panels about “the
new DIY” and “how to make a living in the music business in this shifting
paradigm” Ember Swift and her band left to give performances in the 810 and the
613 area code before her sold out show Sunday March 11^th at Hugh’s
Room back here in 416.<span>  </span>Now I am not
taking anything away from the Canadian Music Week pontificators, but here’s how
a pragmatist like myself sees things:<span> 
</span>After paying $15 a ticket and the cost of Hugh-Room-feeding,
</span><st1:city><st1:place><span
lang="EN-CA">Toronto</span></st1:place></st1:city><span lang="EN-CA"> music
fans patiently
endured the merch-table log jam after Ember’s show to buy one or some of the
nine indie CDs released since 1996. <span> </span>So,
if you want to know how to make a full time living and support a band in this
day and age, I humbly suggest to you, that Ms. Swift is the authority to go
to.<span>  </span>Assuming you already know that you should
write clever songs and give breath-taking performances, Ember will tell you the
rest in Episode 39 of The Toronto Indie Scene.<o:p> </o:p></span></p>



<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">Oh dear, I have started typing and I
just
can’t stop, meaning A) There was so much to share with you, B) This is a very
busy time in the Toronto Indie Scene, or C) I didn’t take the time to edit my
“verbosiage.”<span>  </span>That said, I will quickly add that this week
you also see a reviews of The Skylar Entertainment Showcase March
22^nd
at the Elmo and Eden Ant’s sell out EP release party March 23^rd at
the Riv with </span><st1:place><st1:placename><span
