Greetings fellow music lovers:

Who cared about Canadian emerging music?
The whole world is listening but here's some facts for the month of June
that I would like to share with you. It's normal that Canadian log ons to
IndieCan.com are second the USA; if only 10% of Americans have an
interests in Canadian indie music, that's a larger demographic than
Canada. Sometimes in the month Canada is # 3 and not # 2. Generally
that's a one-off. Australia, Finland, Spain and Germany have all pushed
Canada down to the 3-spot at some time but not consistently.

Now for the second month in a row, China is # 2 for hits, page views and
unique visitors to www.indiecan.com. With more people who can speak
English than the U.S.A., this is a trend I was waiting for and it seems to
be happening.

Understand that Canadians aren't under-achieving. They have more ways to
consume IndieCan with 6 FM stations, XM Satellite Radio's THE VERGE and a
couple of internet radio stations. Outside of North America, the web site
is the only way inside our particular brand of "Canadian Indie Today."

I make no conclusions from these facts, I just put them out there to you.
I am curious to hear what you make of them. If there were Indie-Olympics
I think we would hold our own on the world stage - that much I will
conclude.

HAVE YOU HEARD? God Made Me Funky
Yes, from NXNE IndieCan brings you the Toronto - NuFunk - topia
ambassadors of musical hope. If you haven't checked out Episode 90 yet,
enjoy. We also have Public on Public, MBMG on NXNE and more from THE NEW
INDIE. This is the second week we've looked at this 4 CD Set from CRAA
(The Canadian Recording Artists' Association). Publishing, Labels,
Management and a general overview of The Music Scene today make up the
focus of this expose. I sample two 10 minute segments but it's really
worth a more intensive study. Link to it from www.indiecan.com where it's
available for purchase or as a free podcast.

THE SHINNY ON # 91
Episode 91 is on the web site but I haven't posted it yet. It will be
heard today on XM and through the week over our affiliates. If you can't
wait, http://www.indiecan.com/91IndieCanRadio.mp3 will allow you access.
Vancouver's The Painted Birds open up live at IndieCan, Jenn Martin, our
new corespondent is back stage at Toronto Pride to talk with Shitt Hottt
and Mad June + as always, more stuff to distract you for an hour.

Check out our site for TORONTO PRIDE pictures, some Canada Day concert
pictures et al.

IndieCan is at Ottawa Blues Fest. We are looking forward to Hillside
Music Festival and The Toronto Independent Music Awards later this month.
We'll share what we hear from Mariposa and Northern Lights Festival too.

Have a great week. Thanks for sharing a few minutes with us.

Warm regards,
