April Wine's Myles Goodwin, and Brian Greenway were inducted into the
Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno awards in St. John's, N.L. on
Sunday, April 18, 2010. Myles took the time to read out the names of
every April Wine member over the last 40 years, from Jimmy Clench and the
Henmans right up to the current lineup.
Multiple Juno winners included K'Naan, Drake, Michael Buble, and Metric.
Performers included Billy Talent, Blue Rodeo and KNaan. The 2010 Junos
dissed the host there was no host. No Russell Peters, No Rick Mercer,
just a host city that rocks and Canadian artists handling the intro.
Canadian Olympic athletes helped out in the no-hosting duties.
Indie artists had a helluva night. Amellia Curran, The Arkells, the Good
Lovelies are some of the IndieCan friends that did well. And who knew a
small in population country like Canada could see two records from
different artists winning Junos with the same name
. Who are they?
Check out Episode 176 of IndieCan Radio to hear Ember Swift who with 10
indie records to her name now lives in Beijing and Ontario. What does it
take for a Canadian artist to win over Chinese crowds? Lets hear about
it from someone who knows.
Todd Arkell, broke his SXSW virginity with Sex With Strangers in the back
yard of the Six Shooter House of Sin. Hear Todds escapades from The
Verge recordings, to riding with Tom Cochrane to the Broken Social Scene
show and more.
This week youll hear music youve never heard from bands youve never
heard. Dont know who the Beauties are? We can fix that. Havent heard
about Canteen Knockouts new CD? Its not out yet but no reason to wait
for a release date you get it today. We have Billy the Kid, Dan Mangan,
Stereo Airing, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Yukon Blonde, and Jets
Overhead.

Both Joel Plaskett with his triple CD set and Billy Talent won Junos with
CDs called, III.
The 2011 Junos are going to be in Toronto so lets start planning to all
be there a year from now. The people of St. John's showed us how it's
done so let's not let T.Dot be embarrassed but the good people of the
"Rock."
