Are you tired of waking up tired? Does that sound like a new millennium
fact of life? The Diodes made music from fatigue as part of a new-wave
movement that made room for punk in Toronto Ontario and what we now call,
alt-Rock.
This year at NXNE the Diodes remind us why Thats the way it was Also
this year at NXNE we see a movie about Hansom Ned a pioneer of roots
country meets psycho-billy, a term unknown to Queen Street in the years of
Ned. Another hard-sell for Toronto ears as the Mighty Q-one-oh-Zeppelin
was hard at work keeping us rooted in the past. Alt-country is hipster
today but it wasnt always such an obvious career path. There are more
music movies gracing Toronto Theaters for the longest North By North East
in history so make your way to Toronto now, and pace yourselves out there.
>From Hamilton Spring Music Festival, we talk to Rob Rapitti and introduce
the Ascot Royals and the Silver Tongue Devils. The Silver Tongue Devils
are winners fresh out of the gate and the Ascot Royals talk to us between
gigs on Master Tracks with Moe Berg and Laurence Currie and an Edge 102.1
live set on Yonge Street.
Also this week we hear from Faye Blais, Run With The Kittens, Grass
Mountain Hobos, The Dudes, Hannah Georgas, Elias and we keep the retro
feel alive with more from the new Martha and The Muffins CD.
See what we saw at Hamilton Spring Music Festival while youre listening
to the show.
